How results are ordered: alphabetically by institution, or by most recently checked when you choose that sort. There is no price ranking, because tuition in different currencies, fee categories and bases (per year, per credit, whole program) is not comparable. Adjacent subjects such as landscape architecture appear only when you choose a subject. A value we could not verify is shown as “not published”, never as “no”. Items marked Sponsored are paid placements; they never change accreditation information, verification or order. Online programs are not counted as physically located in a state or city, and an institution’s location does not tell you whether it enrols students from your country.

About architecture education in United Kingdom

How architecture education is organised

In the UK the title architect is protected and registration is with the Architects Registration Board (ARB). The established route is three stages (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3) plus practical experience, while ARB is moving to a new framework based on Competency Outcomes, with the transition due to finish by December 2028. Degrees in the Part 1 and Part 2 stages are typically taught as a three-year bachelor's and a two-year master's, and many schools are introducing four-year integrated master's courses; classify each course from its own page.

Qualification structures

Names and levels are local to United Kingdom. Similar names in other countries are not interchangeable.

Part 1 / Part 2 / Part 3 (established route)
RIBA describes the route as Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3 qualifications plus two years of practical experience; ARB accepts accredited UK Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3 qualifications under the old framework. Source
Competency Outcomes framework (new)
Under the new framework qualifications are accredited against the Competency Outcomes for Architects; the academic outcomes are normally gained through an ARB-accredited master's-level qualification and the practice outcomes through a practice-level qualification. Source

Bodies that matter, and what each one does

Accreditation, validation, education authority and registration are different roles. Do not read a listing by one body as evidence from another.

Architects Registration Board (ARB)
Statutory regulator that keeps the UK Register of Architects and accredits (formerly prescribed) qualifications for registration; Schedule 1 lists qualifications currently accredited.
Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA)
Professional membership body that validates architecture courses; it is not the licensing or registration body.

Route to registration

Current rules as described by the official source; always check the authority directly.

To use the title architect in the UK a person must register with ARB. ARB currently accepts accredited UK Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3 qualifications under the old framework, and is transitioning to Competency Outcomes with master's-level academic and practice-level qualifications; ARB says the transition is due to finish by December 2028 and that previously accredited qualifications remain usable. Check ARB for the rules that apply to a specific course and start year. Source

No degree on this site automatically permits anyone to practise as an architect, and nothing here is visa, work-permit or credit-transfer advice.

Languages and admissions

Teaching languages. English is the language of instruction at the courses recorded here; Welsh-medium and other provision is outside the scope of the courses researched so far.

Admissions and portfolios. Architecture courses typically ask for a design portfolio and may add an interview; postgraduate Part 2 courses usually expect a Part 1 (or equivalent) degree and often some practice experience. Requirements are set per course and per entry year.
