How results are ordered: alphabetically by institution, or by most recently checked when you choose that sort. There is no price ranking, because tuition in different currencies, fee categories and bases (per year, per credit, whole program) is not comparable. Adjacent subjects such as landscape architecture appear only when you choose a subject. A value we could not verify is shown as “not published”, never as “no”. Items marked Sponsored are paid placements; they never change accreditation information, verification or order. Online programs are not counted as physically located in a state or city, and an institution’s location does not tell you whether it enrols students from your country.
Architecture is taught at three universities, Aalto University (Espoo), Tampere University and the University of Oulu, in a 3+2 year structure (a bachelor's of 180 credits followed by a 120-credit architect's master's). Bachelor's phases are taught in Finnish (Aalto also in Swedish); the master's phase is available in English at all three. Separately, universities of applied sciences (Oulu UAS, Metropolia, Savonia, and per Savonia also Tampere UAS and Turku UAS) teach a four-year Finnish-language building-architect (rakennusarkkitehti AMK) degree.
Names and levels are local to Finland. Similar names in other countries are not interchangeable.
Accreditation, validation, education authority and registration are different roles. Do not read a listing by one body as evidence from another.
Current rules as described by the official source; always check the authority directly.
According to SAFA, construction design and site management roles became regulated professions when the Building Act entered into force at the start of 2025, with competence shown by a certificate from an organisation authorised by the Ministry of the Environment. Universities state that their architect's degree gives eligibility or the right to practise as an architect, subject to national and local rules. Source
No degree on this site automatically permits anyone to practise as an architect, and nothing here is visa, work-permit or credit-transfer advice.
Teaching languages. Bachelor's programmes at Aalto, Tampere and Oulu are in Finnish (Aalto allows Swedish for coursework and thesis); master's programmes in architecture are taught in English at Aalto, Tampere and Oulu.
Admissions and portfolios. Bachelor's applications go through the national joint application (Oulu and Aalto: 9-23 March 2027); master's applicants submit a portfolio (Aalto: at most 24 pages) in application rounds in December-January. Non-EU/EEA/Swiss master's applicants pay a EUR 100 application fee through Studyinfo (stated by Aalto and Tampere). Source
