How results are ordered: alphabetically by institution, or by most recently checked when you choose that sort. There is no price ranking, because tuition in different currencies, fee categories and bases (per year, per credit, whole program) is not comparable. Adjacent subjects such as landscape architecture appear only when you choose a subject. A value we could not verify is shown as “not published”, never as “no”. Items marked Sponsored are paid placements; they never change accreditation information, verification or order. Online programs are not counted as physically located in a state or city, and an institution’s location does not tell you whether it enrols students from your country.

About architecture education in South Korea

How architecture education is organised

South Korea separates professional architecture degrees from academic ones. The Korea Architectural Accrediting Board (KAAB) accredits professional degree programs, which it defines as a five-year undergraduate course or a two-year (or longer) master's course; its register lists 76 accredited programs (B.Arch and M.Arch). Its FAQ says ordinary four-year and general graduate degrees are academic degrees, and that under the amended Architect Registration Act a graduate of an accredited program is eligible for practical training and the licence examination.

Five-year accredited B.Arch (건축학사)
KAAB's register lists accredited five-year B.Arch programs (for example at Seoul National, Hongik, Yonsei, Hanyang, Korea and Ewha universities). KAAB sets five full-time years as the minimum for an accredited undergraduate professional degree. Source
Accredited professional master's (M.Arch, 건축학석사)
A few graduate programs are accredited as professional degrees, with durations printed in the register such as 2 or 3 years (Konkuk), 4+2 years (Dongguk, Incheon), 2 years (Kookmin Techno Design) and 2.5 years (Hanyang). KAAB's FAQ says graduates of four-year programs can enter these to obtain an accredited degree. Source
Four-year architecture and architectural engineering degrees
KAAB's FAQ describes ordinary four-year and general graduate degrees as academic degrees, distinct from professional degrees tied to a licence. These programs (including most 건축공학 architectural engineering degrees) are not accredited by KAAB and were not recorded in this directory pass. Source

Bodies that matter, and what each one does

Accreditation, validation, education authority and registration are different roles. Do not read a listing by one body as evidence from another.

Korea Architectural Accrediting Board (KAAB, 한국건축학교육인증원)
Accredits professional architecture degree programs and publishes the register of accredited programs; the only architecture education accrediting body in Korea according to its FAQ.
Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (국토교통부)
Licenses KAAB and administers the Architect Registration Act, which makes graduation from an accredited program a prerequisite for the licence examination (as described by KAAB; the ministry's own pages were not fetched).

Route to registration

Current rules as described by the official source; always check the authority directly.

Per KAAB's English introduction, the amended Architect Registration Act makes graduation from an accredited architectural education program a prerequisite for eligibility for the architect licence examination. KAAB's Korean FAQ adds that accredited-program graduates complete at least three years of practical training under a supervising architect before sitting the examination, that the old preliminary examination ended in 2019, and that foreign degrees are assessed through KAAB's education history evaluation. These rules are described by KAAB, not by a government source fetched here; check the ministry before relying on them. Source

No degree on this site automatically permits anyone to practise as an architect, and nothing here is visa, work-permit or credit-transfer advice.

Languages and admissions

Teaching languages. Department websites and KAAB's register entries are in Korean. English-medium availability for individual architecture programs was not verified in this pass; do not assume it.
