How results are ordered: alphabetically by institution, or by most recently checked when you choose that sort. There is no price ranking, because tuition in different currencies, fee categories and bases (per year, per credit, whole program) is not comparable. Adjacent subjects such as landscape architecture appear only when you choose a subject. A value we could not verify is shown as “not published”, never as “no”. Items marked Sponsored are paid placements; they never change accreditation information, verification or order. Online programs are not counted as physically located in a state or city, and an institution’s location does not tell you whether it enrols students from your country.
Architecture is taught at universities (including technical universities and art universities) and at universities of applied sciences. Most programs follow the Bologna bachelor's/master's structure; some universities still run a single-cycle Diplom. Quality of study programs is assured through the German accreditation system, in which the Accreditation Council decides on accreditation. Only people entered in a federal state's architects' list may use the title Architekt/-in, and the state chambers set the study-length and practice conditions for entry.
Names and levels are local to Germany. Similar names in other countries are not interchangeable.
Accreditation, validation, education authority and registration are different roles. Do not read a listing by one body as evidence from another.
Current rules as described by the official source; always check the authority directly.
According to the Bundesarchitektenkammer, the title Architekt/-in may only be used by members entered in a state architects' list. Entry requires a minimum of four years (eight semesters) of full-time study in architecture, regulated by each state's architects' law, and the combination of a degree with at least two years of professional practice can lead to eligibility. The chamber recommends a consecutive bachelor's and master's in the same subject and advises checking with the state chamber whether a chosen program will be recognised. Source
No degree on this site automatically permits anyone to practise as an architect, and nothing here is visa, work-permit or credit-transfer advice.
Teaching languages. Most architecture programs are taught in German and require German language proof (for example DSH-2, TestDaF or C1). Some programs state bilingual German/English teaching (e.g. TU Darmstadt's master's). An English website is not evidence of English-taught teaching; check each program page.
Admissions and portfolios. Admission to many architecture programs is restricted (numerus clausus) and uses school grades, aptitude tests or a task/portfolio; master's programs generally require a bachelor's in architecture and a portfolio. Deadlines are usually 15 July for winter semester and 15 January for summer semester, but vary by institution. Source
